Sanders Wingo Advertising - Inside A Creative Team

Web cast of our visit to Sanders Wingo Advertising.

Well, week 1 of Reel Campaigns 4 A Change is coming to a close. The week's focus was on research for our client Hoover's Cooking. Early in the week, students did several hours of research on-line, got to sample some of Hoover's fantastic food and interviewed the man Hoover Alexander himself. We then visited our friends over at Sanders Wingo Advertising to have our students interact with VP/Partner Trenzio Turner along with a senior art director and copywriter.

Sanders Wingo's Austin office focuses on urban and African American markets primarily and was recently voted Black Enterprise Magazine's Agency of the Year. It was great to have the students talk with seasoned pros about how strategy informs all of the creative work that they do. The better the planning, the more dead on the creative work.
Our students took these interactions to heart as we returned to the classroom on Thursday and developed the Creative Brief for the client. Next week, we'll actually present our findings to Hoover and I must say that feel like we are on target. Rather than a publicity stunt, we believe it's possible for our students to provide real measurable value to Hoover's Cooking that will result in increasing his bottom line. Reel Campaigns 4 A Change Media Boot Camp is apart of Media Xperiments, an experiential learning program that fosters high achievement and entrepreneurship. Students have qualified for the camp by attending multiple tours, developing professionally reviewed portfolios and completing a series of on-line media making activities.
The boot camp marks the beginning of a year long series of job shadow and service learning projects that allow students to build capacity and network as they become Media Proteges making them eligible for paid work opportunities.
